Sexism in Religion

Religion shows many signs of sexism. In the Bible, woman was created after Adam as an afterthought. Woman's role in the Bible is usually a whore, foot-washer and domestic servant. Woman are considered unclean during menstruation and untouchable until ritual cleansing after childbirth. The Catholic Church tries to prevent the use of contraception and bans abortion, which doesn't allow a woman much control of her own body. Most conservative religions used to (and some still do) see woman as the housewife who takes care of the children, her husband and the chores. Some Muslim countries severely restrict the employment of women outside of the home. Some women who commit adultery or are even victims of rape in Islam are stoned to death because of religious views. This is called an "honour killing" because the woman has brought disgrace/shame to the family.
